Pahoa - where the lava meets the ocean

Driving through the most recent lava fields, this land sale sign may look funny, but believe it or not there are new homes being built on the lava fields. The steam you can see in the background is a current lava flow!
The steam plume where the lava meets the ocean. If you look closely you can see some rock spraying up to the right of the plume.

Tilly 'tasting' the lava - verdict: a bit too hard!

The glow

We went down to Pahoa to see where the lava is currently flowing into the ocean. You get down there to see the steam plume in the daylight, just before sunset and then you see the glow when it's dark - it is amazing! You can also see the lava flowing down the mountain when it's dark. The lava flow changes everyday, so sometimes you can see it flowing into the ocean, sometimes you can't.
